TASK
For our final project, we were to do a few tasks to finally end a chapter of our studies. Those tasks were:
- Complete all prototype pages using Dreamweaver
- Complete 2 task flows of our app in HTML, CSS and JavaScript
- Interview and ask one user to test out our app and give feedback regarding their experience.
PROTOTYPE
For my protoype, I improved and added all the pages of what I did in Task 3 making my prototype now a complete app! Admittedly, there are still quite a few things I'm not 1000% satisfied with (such as some alignment issues with some of the content within the app) but for my first attempt at coding a full app using HTML, CSS and JavaScript, I gave it my best shot! I tried my best to make it look like the Prototyping I did on Figma (as seen below!)
Diving deeper, there are some regrets on my part as well when it comes to prototyping the app on Dreamweaver. I had some difficulty making all the content and look the same as it did on Figma. Some elements weren't lining up and aligning properly, I couldn't figure out how to do certain microinteractions and macrointeractions on GSAP so I improvised and experimented to try and make the experience as close to the original experience as possible. Through this, I learnt how to improvise and level up my creativity despite not everything going to plan.
TASK FLOWS
The task flows I chose to animate and bring to life were my registration to home screen task flow and the menu to the sounds page task flow! I had a really hard time getting everything to animate properly according to the way I tried to design it! However, when I reached the 2nd animated task flow (menu to sounds), I got the hang of it and I had fun experimenting with GSAP!
INTERVIEW
After finishing my coded prototype, it was time to interview a friend and ask for some feedback! I chose to interview my friend, Aneesa, who's currently doing a degree in International Hospitality Management at Taylor's. I sent her over the files (albeit with some difficulty) before starting an online meeting with her for her to test out the prototype and give me some feedback! After experiencing the prototype, I asked her the below questions:
- What was your overall experience using the app?
- Did you like the app's layout and arrangement?
- Do you think it's easy for users to use and navigate?
- Did you like the colour scheme and theme of the app?
- Do you think, if the prototype were to go live, would it be well-received by the public?
- What do you think could be improved in terms of the prototype's design and functionality?
Unfortunately though, during the interview, the user profile page could not be accessed properly... However, I'll make sure to add an extra video or gif in this post to show the interaction! Overall though, I had a lot of fun with Aneesa and seeing her experience the prototype for the first time! She asked a lot of interesting questions regarding the app and seemed really engaged while experiencing it.
