Overview – What is Minecraft?
Minecraft is a sandbox game where players can explore, build, and survive in a world made entirely of blocks. Each world is randomly generated, offering endless opportunities to gather, craft, and create.
There’s no fixed storyline or single goal—players can shape their own experiences. In Survival Mode, they face monsters and gather materials to stay alive; in Creative Mode, they can build freely with unlimited resources. There’s also a multiplayer option for shared worlds.
At its heart, Minecraft is about creativity, exploration, and storytelling. This project translates that freedom into a web-based interactive storybook, allowing users to journey through Minecraft’s different playstyles as if they were flipping through the chapters of a game-world fairytale.
Main Goals
The website aims to:
- Introduce players to Minecraft and its open-world concept.
- Show the various playstyles that define the Minecraft experience.
- Guide users toward the playstyle that suits their interests best.
Ultimately, the site functions as both an introduction and an invitation—encouraging visitors to explore, experiment, and create their own adventures within Minecraft’s limitless world.
Target Audience
The target audience includes:
- Gamers and non-gamers who are curious about Minecraft but unsure where to begin.
- Creative users who enjoy digital storytelling or interactive design.
- Students and casual players looking for a friendly, visual introduction to the game.
The tone and layout are approachable, playful, and easy to navigate—perfect for users of all ages
Core Pages
The site is structured like a storybook, divided into five key “chapters”:
- Home – The landing page and entry point to the storybook.
- About – Introduces Minecraft’s background and purpose.
- Adventure – Focuses on exploration, mining, and survival elements.
- Creativity – Showcases building, design, and expression.
- Technical – Highlights redstone mechanics, PvP, and in-game systems.
- A Menu Page acts as a world map, allowing users to jump between these chapters freely.
Website Concept
This website reimagines Minecraft as an interactive storybook where users can choose their own playstyle as they flip through each chapter.
Each page represents a unique way to play the game:
- Adventure: exploring and surviving in wild biomes.
- Creativity: building and designing freely.
- Technical: mastering redstone, PvP, and complex mechanics.
A storybook spine anchors the design at the bottom of every page, while a floating island above it brings each theme to life. Users can follow the story sequentially or navigate non-linearly through the menu page.
The visual style merges the nostalgia of a fairytale book with Minecraft’s pixelated, blocky aesthetic, turning gameplay freedom into an interactive narrative experience.

Website References & Key Takeaways
The Blue Desert
Noted for its immersive aesthetic, smooth navigation, and clear user flow. The site demonstrates how minimal UI and cinematic motion can work together to tell a story.
Takeaway: Use subtle transitions and layered depth to create an engaging yet intuitive browsing experience.
RSPCA Animal Futures
Features multiple floating worlds that represent different themes. This inspired the idea of Minecraft’s islands as “chapters”, where each one showcases a unique playstyle.
Takeaway: Use visual metaphors (islands/worlds) to separate concepts while keeping cohesion.
Renault Trucks
Praised for its clear structure and animated transitions between timelines.
Takeaway: Prioritize clarity and directional flow so users always know where to click next.
These references guided decisions on layout hierarchy, interactivity, and motion storytelling, forming the foundation for the project’s visual rhythm.

Wireframes
Low-fidelity wireframes visualize how the site’s “storybook” metaphor unfolds:
- Home Page, About Pages & Menu:
- Adventure Pages & Creativity 1st Page:
- Creativity Pages & Technical Pages:
Each spread maintains the same foundation—storybook at the bottom, floating island above—but differs in composition, color palette, and interactive focus. This keeps the experience consistent yet visually evolving with each chapter.
Reflection
Designing this project was about blending gameplay and storytelling into a cohesive digital experience. From moodboards to wireframes, every step focused on translating Minecraft’s freedom and creativity into a structured, visual narrative.
By combining pixel aesthetics with storybook design, the site celebrates what makes Minecraft special: the ability to explore, build, and craft your own path—one page at a time.
